However, we have successfully met this challenge by designing a cozy living space within the footprint of a 2-car garage. Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have become a popular solution for expanding living space, whether it’s for accommodating a college-age child or elderly parents, setting up a home office, or creating a rental unit. With careful planning and creative design, it’s possible to transform existing space into a functional and inviting living area. It is tremendously satisfying to develop a space that resonates with one’s personality, one that expands rather than suffocates.
